09 Jun Easy FOcaccia Recipe
This easy Focaccia recipe is perfect for entertaining friends at home or just a treat for your next picnic date. The sweet thing about focaccia is that your imagination is your limit for what to put on it. This time I give two examples of fillings.
Ingredients:
500 grams (3 1/3 cup) of bread flour
1 sachet dry yeast
1/2 tablespoon sugar
300 ml lukewarm water
olive oil
1 1/2 tablespoon of salt
Topping #1:
bunch of basil leaves cut in strips.
100 grams cherry tomatoes cut in halves
garlic, salt and pepper
olive oil
Topping #2:
2 onions cut in fine strips
2 tablespoon fresh thyme
4 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sugar
salt
Prep:
- Mix the flour and salt and make a crown with it. Set aside
- Mix in a bowl the yeast, lukewarm water and sugar. Let it rest for 5 minutes while it makes a sponge. Add to the crown of dry ingredients. Integrate everything well and knead the dough vigorously for 5 minutes.
- Oil a bowl and let the dough rest inside and cover with a plastic film and towel. Let it rest for 30 minutes or until it doubles its volume.
- Meanwhile, we are going to prepare the topping number 2. Heat a pan and drizzle with olive oil. Add the cut onions and fry them with the thyme in low heat until they are translucent. Add the vinegar, sugar and salt and let it simmer for 2 minutes. Set aside to cool it down.
- For topping number 1 just mix everything and set it aside for further use.
- When the dough has risen, prepare a baking tray with parchment paper and with your hands put the dough over the parchment paper and just press it down to form the rectangle. Is going to be rustic and uneven.
- Put one topping in one half of the dough, and the other one in the other half. Let it prove for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C. When the focaccia has proved bake it in the oven for 20 minutes or until the edges are golden.
- Serve it with your favourite wine and enjoy this easy focaccia recipe.
