07 May Kale Tart
A really quick recipe if you have some kale and don´t want to use it for your green smoothie. I normally use this recipe with silverbeet (my family favourite) but I try kale for a chance and it was good.
This time I use a shortcut and make the tart with already made puff pastry but I normally make the pastry from scratch. If you want to do it try the tart base form our quiche.
Ingredients:
1 kale bunch
1 chopped onion
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon oil
5 eggs
Salt and pepper
2 sheets of puff pastry.
Prep:
- Preheat the oven at 180ºC. Prepare a tart pan.
- Chop the kale into small pieces and discard the stems. Boil some water. Put the chopped kale into a strainer and pass the boiling water thru to blanch them. Set aside.
- Chopped the onion into small cubes.
- Pour the oil into a pan and put it over medium heat. Cook the onions and garlic, until the onion is translucent. Add the blanched kale and cook them for 8 minutes. Salt and pepper them. Crack the eggs over the mixture and let them cook for 3 minutes before you begin to stir them to cook completely. Taste the salt and rectify if necessary. Let it cool.
- Meanwhile, roll out 1 sheet of dough and put it into the pan. Fill the tart and roll out the other sheet and put it over the tart. Cook the tart for 30 minutes or until the pastry is done. Enjoy as a good side dish.
