Quick garlic and lime prawn recipe

If you are looking for an easy shrimp recipe, this is your recipe. You will have dinner in minutes, and you can pair it with white or brown rice as I did. But it can also work itself as an appetizer or as a filling for shrimp tacos.

As you can see, this garlic-lime shrimp recipe is very versatile. You can add some cayenne pepper or a little chilli powder, and extra boiling water for the pasta and pair it with your favourite spaghetti. This recipe is part of my meal plans because it is an easy dinner for weeknights.

Ingredients:

  • raw shrimp or prawns
  • extra-virgin olive oil
  • cloves garlic, minced
  • fresh lime juice
  • lime zest
  • sprigs of thyme or fresh cilantro
  • Salt and black pepper

To prepare this garlic-lime shrimp recipe, you have to prepare the prawn by peeling and washing them in cold water, to finally drying them with paper towels. Set them aside. Meanwhile, chop the garlic thinly and clean the sprigs of thyme or clean and chop the cilantro.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, pour a drizzle of olive oil and fry the minced garlic for 30 seconds. Add the prawns and let them cook for 1 minute for each side to have this golden crust. Add the fresh lime juice, zest, thyme, chopped cilantro, and salt and pepper. Let them cook for 30 seconds more and serve them over coconut rice, brown rice or white rice as I did. Add some lime wedges to add an extra kick of flavour if you want.

As you can see, it is a very healthy shrimp recipe that you can enjoy as easy weeknight meals.

Could I freeze this garlic-lime prawn recipe?

I don’t recommend freezing it because it is a shellfish, but what you can do is have some frozen raw prawns or shrimp and let them out 20 minutes before on cold water and use it for this recipe.

You can serve them with rice (white, brown, coconut, etc.), pasta, or if you want to be super healthy, you can serve them with cauliflower rice.

Description

If you are in a hurry but want to do some comfort food, this quick garlic and lime prawn recipe is for you. Few ingredients and 5 minutes of preparation are enough to serve this meal on your table. For me is the perfect recipe when my toddler is a little fuzzy and doesn’t want to wait a lot for a meal. 


Ingredients

16 prawns or large shrimp

2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 tablespoon lime juice

1 teaspoon lime zest

2 sprigs of thyme or chopped cilantro

salt and pepper


Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, over medium-high heat, pour the olive oil. Add the garlic and fry it for 30 seconds before adding the prawns. Let them cook for 1 minute on each side, and add the lime juice, lime zest, thyme, salt and pepper. Let it cook for another 30 seconds.
  2. Serve them over rice, pasta, veggies or jas as an appetizer with some bread on the side to dip in those luscious juices. I served it over some rice this time, and it was the perfect quick lunch for us. So let me know if you try this quick lime and garlic prawn recipe.
